Ctrl+Shift+Left
 > last word is not selected
Ctrl+Shift+Left
 > last word is selected, second word not
Ctrl+Shift+Left
 > only second word is selected, last and first not.

Even more fun:
Enter cell with F2 and do continuous Shift+Left. I'll post a screen shot of that :)

There are no such problem with 5.2.0.0.beta2 (a83fc06803e11f27e95c809fdfacbbd0377ff7d0).

I fixed this with https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=8c4dbcef8f92c9bd1c2208e7de7971f184f8a3ff but only found this bug report afterwards
