As this proposal would add an option (and thus complexity), let's whirl this past UX. Right, Impress has no bookmarks. So the options are: a) Use another property such as the slide name (behavior today; where name is set by default to the slide title) b) Rename the option and allow to export name plus title, optional (suggestion) c) Just remove this option The use case is to quickly jump in the PDF reader to the reference (the "bookmark" is interpreted as "content", at least by Okular). So what we actually export in Impress is the document structure. And I don't see a reason why this should go beyond the slide name or title. So I would keep the option but rename it. Other opinions? Btw. when I export bookmarks in Writer it has no effect on the output at all. Test per dt+F3 (to insert some text), add bookmarks to the text, and export to pdf. Created attachment 133618 [details] Writer export related to Heiko's comment and not for this bug (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #2) > Btw. when I export bookmarks in Writer it has no effect on the output at > all. Test per dt+F3 (to insert some text), add bookmarks to the text, and > export to pdf. If you refer to "Writer bookmarks" export as PDF bookmarks, it doesn't work like that. As in Help, it works like this: "Bookmarks are created for all outline paragraphs". Output is attached. So improvement would be to call this: "Export headings as bookmarks" and I may submit another bug fro that. "Export Writer bookmarks as PDF bookmarks" would be yet another issue, maybe with another tick. If you meant something else, please explain. If you meant something else, please explain. And here the confusion begins. If outlines (and titles/names) are exported as bookmarks why should the bookmark as such get exported as well? I would just remove this. But the actual question was how to deal with Impress. So what's your take @Jay @Stuart @Cor? We should follow the same behaviour as Writer and export the presentation outline (aka slide titles) to the pdf index rather than what we are currently doing of export the slide names, as we dont display the slide names by default and users are not likely to rename them (also you cant rename them in powerpoint). (In reply to Yousuf Philips (jay) from comment #5) > We should follow the same behaviour as Writer and export the presentation > outline (aka slide titles) to the pdf index rather than what we are > currently doing of export the slide names, as we dont display the slide > names by default and users are not likely to rename them yes, I support that. > (also you cant rename them in powerpoint). Ouch, how ugly. We talked about the question in the design meeting and recommend to export outlines (aka slide titles in Impress not slide names) to PDF, being enabled by default. And the label should reflect the function and get changed to "Export outlines" (also in other modules). Removing UX keyword. (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #7) > And the label should reflect the function and get changed to > "Export outlines" (also in other modules). In writer this doesnt change as writer always exports the outline with the checkbox enabled or not, but presently it doesnt even export bookmarks when it is checked (bug 78779). *** Bug 118135 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 118136 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** |
