It is the same with Windows 64 version, 6.0.0.2 RC replaces the existing version. Hi Grey, Actually the wiki page was wrong. it's not replaced with alpha and beta versions but it's with RCs. Wiki page corrected! Thanks I saw the updated page. It says... 2. Install it. (Note that it will replace your actual installation — this is a development version that will not install as a production version.) Well, which is it? Will it replace my actual installation? Or will it not install as a production version? Seriously, I'm not here to bust anybody's chops but that sentence is messed up! As far as the wording goes I offer: 2. Install it (NOTE: this is a development version and will replace your existing installation). And with all due respect, if it's not a release, it's not a release. It's a Release Candidate. My thinking is, like the "LibreOffice Dev" alpha, anything NOT an actual release shouldn't replace an existing application. The RC should install as a separate application. At which time the RC becomes an actual point release, the user may be informed via a update dialog box saying the RC is now obsolete and LO 6.0 is now available for download. What do you think? In any case, thanks for your time. |
