cannot reproduce here. Markus, can you please provide the exact steps of what you did when the bug occurred? And which button (where) you wanted to press? thank you. (In reply to Oliver Grimm from comment #1) Do you observe that the “chart edit mode” gets activated after a diagram was created based on a default data set according to the button “Insert chart” from the standard tool bar? Which actions are supported then to switch the data sources? okay, now I get where you are aiming at. A reference to an external spreadsheet can be set up via Menu Insert | Object | OLE | "import from file" but I understand you are asking for a way to 1) change the data source of an existing diagram in Writer after it was created AND 2) have a diagram refer to another table object within the same writer document Is that correct? As a workaround you can use two external spreadsheet files where file A contains the data table and file B contains the diagram (sourcing it's data from file A). You can then insert both files via OLE into your writer document, respectively, to get any combination of data sources and diagrams. (In reply to Oliver Grimm from comment #3) I am generally looking for ways to improve the export of information also from a chart data table (if the content was customised). Can it become easier to convert such a table object to other data structures? Hello Markus, a new major release of LibreOffice is available since this bug was reported. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version. (In reply to Dieter from comment #5) Did you really notice any information (in the release notes) which should indicate remarkable improvements for this feature request? (In reply to Markus Elfring from comment #6) > (In reply to Dieter from comment #5) > Did you really notice any information (in the release notes) which should > indicate remarkable improvements for this feature request? Have you ever noticed, that you doesn't reach anything with unfriendly comments? (In reply to Dieter from comment #7) Why did you touch this issue if it can be determined that no significant progress happened here? I hope also that corresponding improvements can be achieved for affected software components in more constructive ways. Confirmed that it is not possible to switch between Data Table and Data Ranges when editing a chart in Writer. I can see how that could be useful: writer is the one component that allows both data sources. Not sure if this bug needs UX eval?
