Btw - the UTF-8 encoding from LibreOffice is read by Notepad++ as UTF-8-BOM, which is strange When Save-as (rather than ODF Spreadsheet) and an export filter i.e. 'Text CSV (*.csv)' as here is selected--user must also use the 'Edit filter settings' checkbox to be offered a dialog to make an encoding selection. Otherwise the default UTF-8 of the GUI will apply. And the result may be a CSV text with strings that do not match a preferred text encoding--adjust the export filter settings to match the encoding and format needed. When now I do perform these steps - it chooses the UTF-8 encoding. But maybe because it was a fresh install - the very first save was the following: 1. Call "Save as" 2. On Windows dialog "Save as" I just chose "Text (CSV)" (without checking the "Edit filters settings" checkbox) 3. It reminds about loosing some formulas and formating 4. It shows the the "Export Text File" dialog where I could choose the right charset, and I can remember by default this field was set to Windows 1251/Latin1 (although now I can see by default it is set to UTF-8). I didn't decide to pay additional attention on that And the rest you know. Could you please check the fresh install? no problem in 7.0.0.3 on Windows. If I select "Text (.csv)" and don't select "Edit filter settings", then I see a special dialog with CSV export settings anyway I'm afraid the above questions are incomprehensible, (which is true for most Libre Help!) PROBLEM I used to download my bank statements (csv files) and open in Calc without difficulty. Banks are Co-operative and TSB. Now I find the columns all jumbled in Calc - far more columns than the original file, and information spread across randomly. Unusable. I have to open in Excel, then save in ods. What has happened? Is there a way round this? Barbara Nunn (In reply to Roman Kuznetsov from comment #5) > no problem in 7.0.0.3 on Windows. If I select "Text (.csv)" and don't select > "Edit filter settings", then I see a special dialog with CSV export settings > anyway Same behavior for me with LO 7.1.4.0.0+ under Ubuntu. So closing as WorksForMe. Please feel free to reopen if you disagree. Best regards. JBF |
