Description Alfredo 2020-05-12 13:21:15 UTC
Description:
In the attached document I can't change the chapter number of the second level.
The inserted text is a copy and paste from another odt-document.

The level of the second chapter is not recognized and I can't change the position of the level in the properties. Or better, I can change it but it remains in the 1st level.

Normally the level is automatically shown in the position tab. For the 2nd level chapter it's 2 but in this case it remains in 1

When I open a new document and write the text, the chapter numbering works as expected

Steps to Reproduce:
1.see the document
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The sub chapter has 1.

Expected Results:
The sub chapter should have 1.1

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
A very special case for this document.

The original document was a docx converted with Writer to odf
From this odf I copied the paragraphs to a new document

Solution:

1. Tools => Chapter Numbering
2. Level 2
3a. Number: 1, 2, 3
3b. Paragraph Style: Heading 2
3c. Show sublevels 2

=> NOTABUG

The solution works as explained.

But when I try to change the level in the list numbering menu this doesn't work.
I suppose this should work also, or is there a difference?

I can't see a problem in your picture. Please have a look LO Help, read the manual or use ask.libreoffice.org for further help. Thanks.

In the picture is no error.
I'd like to show that if you use this option it should work equal as you explained.
But it doesn't
I can change the level to level 2, but when I close the dialog and reopen it keeps in level 1 and nothing changed in the document.

You used the Chapter numbering which works fine
I used the List numbering which does not work.

I suppose that both numbering dialogs should gave the same result.

No, list numbering is different from chapter numbering and you shouldn't use list numbering for chapter numbering. And again: Please have a look LO Help, read the manual or use ask.libreoffice.org for further help. Thanks.
