screen shot of the Sum issue
(In reply to Nath from comment #0) > Description: > This has happened in the last few releases. > It works since "LibreOffice 3.3.0 OOO330m19 (Build:6)tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4" this way. Autosum sums all values above "until" there is another "SUM()" formula. From my perspective not a bug. See also LibreOffice Help - Select Function (https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/scalc/02/06030000.html?DbPAR=CALC#bm_id3157909) stating: Select Function applied with no selected range LibreOffice automatically suggests a cell range, provided that the spreadsheet contains data. If the cell range already contains a function, you can combine it with the new one to yield the function applied to the range data. [snip] The phrase "you can combine" means: You can expand the suggested range to include the cell(s) having formulas by using the blue square handles at any corner of the suggested range. thank you for your response. I tested your response and it does work but it requires an extra step so I still think the system is not working properly. If I select the row with the Sum and then select the next row with the additional number and go to a blank cell and use the Sum function it does not return the sum. Based on your response, I now have to highlight the sum cell and include the other sum number. I think that is a silly extra step. I know this is no Excel but that is not how it works in excel. I should be able to select a row of numbers and get a sum without having to do the extra step of going back to include a cell. Thank you. (In reply to Nath from comment #4) > .... the system is not working properly. It is documented behavior (as stated in my previous comment #3 and as such not a bug in the sense of a failing functionality. I will leave it to others to decide whether your request is at least an enhancement request. This is not a bug. Question is: should it be an enhancement? I don't think so. You will rarely have this example, contiguous numbers adding to different sums. Marking NAB. Excel also works like LO and not like in this request. |
