Do you have a specific URL we can use to reproduce this? Linkification works for me when I paste URL:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145231
Into Writer of version:
Version: 7.2.2.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 02b2acce88a210515b4a5bb2e46cbfb63fe97d56
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded
Response to Michael Warner 2021-10-20 13:02:05 UTC I used https:///www.mozilla.org and no URL link is recognized or created, but anything resembling a URL has the same result. I should clarify ... (1) typing in a URL does not create a link automatically, but (2) when I cut the URL you gave me (from a browser) & paste in then the linkification does work. And, (3) if I cut the URL from email (in my case Thunderbird) & paste the linkification does not work. I noticed that an underlying problem may lie in the spell check module(s). Typing in text is never flagged as a spelling error, eg: eror or rabbish. Spell check does not identify any spelling errors either automatically as typed or when manually checked. I'm working on default US language settings. I have these relevant options : Tools | Automatic Spell Checking is checked on Tools | Options | Language Settings | Languages | Language Of User Interface: Default - English (USA) Tools | Options | Language Settings | Languages | Default Languages for Documents Western: Default - English (USA) Tools | Options | Language Settings | Writing Aids | Available Language Modules: Hunspell SpellChecker is checked on Tools | Options | Language Settings | Writing Aids | User-Defined Dictionaries: standard; en-GB; en-US all switched on [Automated Action] NeedInfo-To-Unconfirmed I notice you put three slashes after the https:, which is the problem. The correct URL is
https://www.mozilla.org
You will notice there should be only two slashes. When I type this in to Writer, it automatically creates a link as expected.
Response to Michael Warner 2021-10-21 12:57:01 UTC Sorry for the typo. I tried this with the same result: no linkification. https://a.co (In reply to Ken C from comment #5) > https://a.co This one works for me as well. I have now tested in a variety of recent 7.x versions on both Linux and Windows and I am not able to reproduce this. I guess you could try installing the latest version and resetting your profile again and see if that helps, but otherwise I have no specific advice to provide. I've tried removing & re-installing several times and each time I get the same result: linkification does not work & nor does spell check. The older version 6.4 works for me so will revert to that. My opinion is to close this bug. Created attachment 176046 [details] Keystrokes used to reproduce linkification bug #145231 I read Bug# 145172 and re-opened this bug to update with new information to reproduce the bug. I uploaded an attachment video to show how the bug may be reproduced on my system. But, I made a mistake in the video. In the video I typed in an error in the Bug number. It should read: I reported Bug# 145231 Attachment is mp4 file format. I can't reproduce it in Version: 7.3.0.0.alpha1+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 9ffbbd9dba5f12be2914ebbf01ebdd303b695e46 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.10; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded To be certain the reported issue is not related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your Libreoffice profile ( https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile ) and re-test? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present Ken, Thanks for recording and uploading this video. Fortunately (or unfortunately), I still can't reproduce it in: Version: 7.1.3.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 47f78053abe362b9384784d31a6e56f8511eb1c1 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded or Version: 7.2.2.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 02b2acce88a210515b4a5bb2e46cbfb63fe97d56 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded I noticed an auto upgrade has put me in a new version of software. Linkification works for me now on this release. Version: 7.2.3.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: a49ed84f3d037188bbbcb324f9afc3796d887539 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Thanks. You can close out the bug report. [Automated Action] NeedInfo-To-Unconfirmed |
