Screen dump showing both sheets and the selection
Further experimenting has identified that the navigator will identify an active file as "available" for navigator interaction even when that active file has only just been created and NEVER saved to disk. Once I had figured that out it became apparent that the target array is highlighted by a frame when it has been successfully selected. NOT A BUG - Just inadequate documentation as it assumes the users are always going to be aware of these "features", that is:- File must be a saved file not just in memory with "untitled(n)" as a generated name File on disk may also not be a "lazysave" "untitled(n)" as this also confuses the navigator The successfully identified array is "boundary highlighted" I have left the report as active - QA may wish to define what is the appropriate action for the deficiencies. Olivier, this one up to you This topic is better suited to be detailed in the Calc Guide, for example, in https://books.libreoffice.org/en/CG74/CG7411-LinkingCalcData.html#toc28 Please bring this issue to the documentation forum at https://community.documentfoundation.org/c/documentation/loguides/14 (In reply to Olivier Hallot from comment #4) > This topic is better suited to be detailed in the Calc Guide............. > Please bring this issue to the documentation forum at > > https://community.documentfoundation.org/c/documentation/loguides/14 Hi Olivier, Is this comment aimed at me - the initiator - or Roman who brought it to your attention? |
Description: The Navigator function "Insert as Link" is non functional. It makes no difference whether the function is enabled by right-clicking on the identified table and selecting the presented option or whether it is selected from the Control Pane. Inserting as a COPY does work. Steps to Reproduce: From the LO Help screen Inserting by Navigator Attached is a screen dump demonstrating the two simple files and the "selection" of the desired activity. Open two documents: the LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet in which the external data is to be inserted (target document) and the document from which the external data derives (source document). In the target document open the Navigator. In the lower combo box of the Navigator select the source document. The Navigator now shows the range names and database ranges or the tables contained in the source document. In the Navigator select the Insert as link drag mode Icon. Drag the desired external data from the Navigator into the target document. Actual Results: Nothing Expected Results: A table linked to the source file which updates with source changes Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: Version: 7.2.5.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 499f9727c189e6ef3471021d6132d4c694f357e5 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: sv-SE (en_GB); UI: en-GB Calc: threaded
