Description bestmatchhere 2022-09-17 16:07:36 UTC
Description:
after I completed the update to 7.4 version, when I click on the menu navigation, the text that shows up is very difficult to read because the background to the words is now a dark grey and the text is also dark color so they all blend in and I have to strain to read the text to know which option to pick. Prior to the version update, the background was white on the navigation text and I could actually read it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open up LibreOffice Spreadsheet
2. Click on File in the upper left corner
3. Menu selection that appears is very difficult to read because the text and background are all about the same color. Background used to be white to provide contrast to the text.

Actual Results:
Very hard and frustrating to read text

Expected Results:
Should pull up navigation window and be able to see the text clearly against the white background

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Have a white background to the black text so you can read the text

Looks like you've set Windows 10 to Color theme to the 'Dark' mode

please set Tools -> Options -> Application Colors "Liberation Dark" Color scheme.

Please try enabling dark mode as described in the link below:
https://libreofficemaster.blogspot.com/2022/03/libreoffice-dark-mode-on-windows.html

Let us know if the problem persists.

Please disable your Win10 os/DE accent colors temporarily.

Start -> Settings; In Windows Settings -> "Choose your accent color"

In the "Colors" dialog that opens--remove check marks for the Show accent color on the following surfaces "Start, taskbar, and action center" and "Title bars and window border"

It should apply immediately and you'll see changes to your Windows desktop environment.

Launch LibreOffice (restart if you had it open).

Do the menu background issue clear?

Close LibreOffice

Restore the show accent color check boxes, and retest LibreOffice. Issue back?

Open the main menu Tools -> Options -> Advanced dialog, and check enabled the "Enable experimental features (may be unstable)" checkbox. Restart LibreOffice as indicated.

Do the menu background issues appear? Let us know.

Also, as a suggestion. Use the Tools -> Options -> Application Colors panel, and set the Color scheme listbox to 'LibreOffice Dark'

The combination of the Experimental Features and the Application Colors should be useful configuration at 7.4 builds. At 7.5 the experimental features will not be necessary to work around the Win os/DE accent color issue.

Win os/DE 'dark' mode corrected as experimental feature for 7.4.2, and by default in 7.5

workaround at 7.4.2 of enabling experimental features. See cause description bug 151756
