Bug 151648

Summary: Formatted List Styles do not retain indent after copy/paste
Product: LibreOffice Reporter: Ryan Johnson <rj.amdphreak>
Component: WriterAssignee: Not Assigned <libreoffice-bugs>
Status: RESOLVED INSUFFICIENTDATA
Severity: normal CC: dgp-mail
Priority: medium
Version: 7.3.5.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)

Description Ryan Johnson 2022-10-20 00:38:44 UTC
Description:
Copying/pasting and Undo/redo screw up Style information. Style information is ignored, encoded incorrectly, and sometimes completely replaced with other Style information.

Steps to Reproduce:
Create nested bulleted list like:
level 1
  level 2
    level 3

Try to move part of that list around, to re-order the list items. Both copy/paste and drag-and-drop cause it to format the list with the incorrect indent. Re-applying the list Style from the Styles panel does not correct the issue.

A bonus bug:
Copy the same list to another document, then Undo it, then Redo it with Ctrl-Y. The Style information will now be screwed up. Every item that was a List 1, or 2 or 3, etc, will now be registered as a List style (the parent style of List 1, 2, etc), but list items that are not a top-level item will not have a bullet, and will not be indented.

Actual Results:
Copy/paste problem: The list indentation is forgotten.

Undo/Redo problem: The list bullets are forgotten for non-top-level list items. Indentation is also forgotten.

Expected Results:
I should be able to copy a portion of any list and past it somewhere else and have it formatted the exact same way, and displayed properly.

Ryan, thank you for reporting the bug. It seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

If the problem is still present please try to provide clearer steps to reproduce it (which list style do you use, which part of the list do you move, ...). If possible, you can also add a screencast to make it possible for someone else to reproduce the problem. Thank you.
