Florian, is that a legal requirement for sending a donation receipt? Asking before moving the ticket to Redmine in case it's an obvious "won't fix". We have turned that on back in the day for two reasons: * Make donation confirmations easier, if we have contact data * Avoid fraudulent payments (which sadly happen a lot to "test" out credit cards), as also the e-mail address is a part of these checks So, it's not per se mandatory, but I fear turning it off has some major drawbacks. Could be something to discuss in the team meeting. Thank you, Florian. Marking as "moved" as this is not the place for such reports. Cip, your comment is noted and will be discussed, as Florian said. Thanks! Cip, just reporting from the TDF team discussion, it was decided that the email field should be kept for a few reasons: - it facilitates greatly record-keeping, in case donors need a record, proof of their donation, or communicate with us about any issue regarding the transfer. Not having automatic receipts sent would mean dealing with a much larger volume of communication from donors. - regardless of that, it is possible to use a non-existant email address when donating with Stripe - I just tested. People concerned about privacy can go with that (unless it depends on your bank, not 100% sure). Thank you. Thank you for the update. That second point almost solves the "bug". |
