Description:
Hello!

I've downloaded LibreOffice_24.2.1_Win_x86-64.msi a few times (inlcuding once through torrent), but I keep getting this error on Windows 10 (64-bit):

"The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verifiy that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

Actual Results:
Dowload the installer, and double-clickon it to try to get it to run!

Expected Results:
Got this error message:

"The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verifiy that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Couldn't install latest version of LibreOffice.

I cannot reproduce the bug, but I believe it is an administrative issue.

Try running the installer as an administrator. If that doesn't work, assuming that the account you are signed in on Windows isn't an admin, perhaps create a new administrator account and login through that and try running the installer that way.

Could it be an issue with your Windows profile? Can you try creating a new administrator account? Or check the installer's file permissions?

Or see bug 158815: could there be another program that interferes with your downloads?

Hello! I resolved the issue!

Turns out the installer didn't like being inside a folder that starts with the ` character!

It just so happens that the custom folder I have for downloads starts with ` so that it floats to the top of the list.

Once I moved the installer to another, "normally named" folder, it worked with no issues!

Many thanks!

Good to know, thanks for reporting back!
Let's close as "not a bug" as "fixed" is for when something was resolved by a specific patch.
