looks like a macosx specific problem, can't reproduce on either windows or linux. a) note you only need to use the second attachment ( the first is the odp version of the ppt ) b) ms2010 claims there are problems ( with no details ) for the file and displays some ugly stuff opening it :-/ ms2000 opens if fine Heh. looks badly broken. even the bounding box is rather off. More info. Regression with 3.2? Experimental mode: Double click crashes the app. Normal mode: Double click opens the editor - but clicking on the formula crashes the app. Not sure whom to assign it to...Any volunteers to take it up? I just download and installed OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 Danish version (couldn't find my native language 3.2 version :p). No regression, same behaviour. (See extra screenshot). Double click doesn't crashs my application ... (Mac OS X). Created attachment 42589 [details]
Same behaviour with OpenOffice.org 3.2.1
Just installed Office 2011 for Mac OS X. Entered a random math equation (see attachment). Saved as .pptx. Result in LibreOffice 3.3 final: see screenshot. (Notice the strange red text on the thumbnail-view). I hope this is enough information to solve this problem. Kind regards Created attachment 42638 [details]

Another example of buggy math formulas after MSO files import: http://www.lorentzcenter.nl/lc/web/2010/404/presentations/Wang.pps There are no weird math symbols anymore, but the resulting formula is still wrong. Double click on the formula in LO 3.4.1 release (Mac OS X) result in crash... Reset 'Version' field to original value. Please note that the 'Version' field should contain the FIRST version in which the issue appears, and NOT the last one. A related issue (not exactly the same, therefore NOT marking one of these bugs as DUP, but similar and maybe with the same roots): Bug 49645 - "FILEOPEN particular MSWORD2008 .docx: misinterprets letters from Symbol font" Bug still exists in LibreOffice 3.6.0 bèta 2; Mac OS X 10.7.4. Formule in LO 3.6.1 RC1 Mac OSX
Version 3.6.1.1 (Build id: 4db6344) Mac OSX; with Dutch Language Pack
On Mac OS 10.7, with LO 3.6.4.3 the example files given display even worse. (In reply to comment #18) > On Mac OS 10.7, with LO 3.6.4.3 the example files given display even worse. On Mac OSX 10.8.2, LO 4.0 beta 2 it isn't worse, but it isn't better neither. Thanks for retesting. I hope this bug will be fixed soon, because I think that this is an important improvement for all the students (like me) who have teachers that use this kind of documents. (In reply to comment #19) > On Mac OSX 10.8.2, LO 4.0 beta 2 it isn't worse, but it isn't better neither. Could you test it against current 4.2 master build? Apologies for not having gotten around fixing this bug yet; unfortunately in future I'll have even less time at my disposal for this, so I'm freeing up ownership for other volunteers to take over. Frédéric: seeing math formula, I thought, one for you? (In reply to comment #22) > Frédéric: seeing math formula, I thought, one for you? I don't see the bug on Linux and I don't have a Mac, so I'm not really sure I can help. The formula seems to be a binary object created by MathType, so I'd suggest to look at the MathType import code. And of course if someone has a Mac and can use a debug build to provide a stack backtrace of the crash, that would give a better idea of where to look at. Created attachment 86692 [details]
console logs on Linux
Thank you for your quick feedback Frédéric.
On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I retrieved some console logs from the 2 first attachments.
I've got a Mac but there's no debug daily dev available (or missed it?).
Alex: By any chance, have you managed to build LO with debugging options? I'm gonna download the last dev daily build for MacOs but a bt with symbols could help more I suppose. I just took a look with LO MacOs dev daily build of the day + Linux LO, the files appeared ok to me! Could someone confirm or bring me back to reality?:-) (In reply to comment #26) > I just took a look with LO MacOs dev daily build of the day + Linux LO, the > files appeared ok to me! > Could someone confirm or bring me back to reality?:-) Sorry for my late response in this bug report :-). Looks all okay so far! Tested all 3 attached test documents I reproduced the bug with. Tested using Mac OSX 10.8.4 with Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: f4d3954fc6106b3ae0ee16ab0fcde15d8cb945e3 (= same machine as I reported this bug report) Thanks all for your time and help to squash this one. Kind regards, Joren Thank you Joren for having confirmed and for these good news! :-) I add target:4.2.0, first version we're sure it's ok. Sorry Frédéric, I should have tested with last releases before "pinging" you. |
Created attachment 42417 [details] Example file weird Math symbols When I opened a PPT(x) document in OpenOffice Calc, all Greek symbols are displayed as strange and weird symbols. Double clicking on the formula in "Normal"-view, a (only read) OpenOffice.org Math window will open. In this window, the formula is displayed correctly. The Powerpoint is made with Microsoft Office suit (by my high school teacher). NB: view screenshot and example documents in attachment. As you can see is my Operation System Mac OSX (Snow Leopard).
