Description Larsen 2011-01-31 10:13:22 UTC
When I copy multiple lines that contains tabs from a text editor, LO automatically shows the dialog where I can set the options how that data is separated.

It would be nice if LO could remember the last used values, so I wouldn´t have to set it again and again when copying.

[This is an automated message.]
This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

Comment 2 Larsen 2011-12-23 13:05:26 UTC
This bug is an enhancement request, so I guess it´s ok to move it to NEW.

Not reproducible on LO 4.0.4.2 (Win7 32bit), data copied from Notepad
Comment 4 Larsen 2013-06-17 07:11:56 UTC
As only 4.0.3.3 is publicly available, I could only test with that and it still happens there. Data copied with Notepad++ and UltraEdit.

Did you copy multiple lines? Cause it doesn´t happen when I only copy one line.
Comment 5 ign_christian 2013-06-17 12:33:26 UTC
Yup, multiple lines. I tried several times using Notepad (default application from Windows).

Could you attach sample files & precise steps to reproduce that? Perhaps I misunderstood.
Comment 6 Larsen 2013-06-17 12:54:48 UTC
It´s quite simple:
- Open text editor
- type "1", press Tab, type "2", press Enter
- repeat with 3,4,...

- Select all text
- Copy&paste into new Calc document

Then I get the textimport dialog.

I have replaced the standard Notepad with UltraEdit here, so unfortunately, I cannot test with Notepad.

I still can't reproduce that. Using 'Fixed width' as Separator options, separators position still remembered while I'm trying several times using several lines.

It should not be depend on text editor application. Perhaps other users can confirm?
Comment 8 Larsen 2013-06-17 14:37:46 UTC
Hmm, seems like I have mixed things up a little bit and expected the dialog not to appear a second time. My initial report isn´t clear enough and since it´s over two years old, I don´t really remember my intention that time.

So, sorry for wasting your time and confirming that the last used values are indeed remembered.
