Description Thibaut Paumard 2011-02-09 01:01:15 UTC
Hi,

I have a specific file created (or at least largely edited) in NeoOffice. It is in .odt format. I can still work on this file in NeoOffice, but it freezes LibreOffice as well as OpenOffice.org and Go-OO.

I am willing to send this file to specific developpers, but I don't want to have it archived in the bug-tracker or otherwise distributed openly over the internet. The file is fairly complex with tables and pictures and to this point I did not manage to make a minimum example (which would be very time consuming).

More details:

Affected versions:
Note: my entire system is localized in French.
LibreOffice 3.2.99.3 (OOO330m12), 3.3.0.4 (OOO330m19)
OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 (OOO320m18), 3.3.0ß7 (OOO330m17), 3.3.0 (OOO330m20)
Go-OO 3.2.1 (OOO320m19)

File works fine in:
NeoOffice 3.2.1 patch 1

Symptoms:

I load the document either by double-clicking its icon, right-clicking and selecting the application for opening, opening first the application and use the Open dialog. Whatever the exact steps, the document is loaded in its window.

There is a field at the top of the document which should display the document's title. In the affected applications, it only displays the field's name: "Info document:Titre". I tried to remove this field in NeoOffice, it did not help in loading the file again in LibreOffice.

After a few seconds, the application becomes irresponsive. The cursor takes its busy shape when hovering over the file's windiw or the application's menu bar. One CPU take 100%. I need to force quit the application (right-click on application's icon in the task bar, "Forcer à quitter").

When I open the application again, it suggests to restore the file, which leads to the same freeze.

Best regards, Thibaut.

I meant NeoOffice 3.1.2, not 3.2.1.

But by the way, I resolved or worked around the bug by moving my preference directory away (sorry I didn't think of doing that earlier).

So the bug now is: I have ~/Library/LibreOffice/ in a certain state which in combination with a specific file cause the freeze above (document's title not displayed properly and app. freeze after a few sec.). If I remove the directory, I can work fine with whatever version of LibreOffice.

I'm keeping my bad-state pref. directory around in case you want it for debug.

Best regards, Thibaut.

It sounds like this is more a problem with the NeoOffice .odt export filters than a LO problem, especially since the problem persists in LO, Ooo, and Go-OO. Lowering severity to normal.

started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
