Confirming on Mac OSX 10.6.6. Ironically, the Finder on Mac is clever enought to display the preview of the image in the properties of the file, but incorrectly suggests the wrong application to open it (text displayers, including Firefox, Chromium, OOo and LibO). Alex yet another mac issue for you? Hi Cedric, The OP reported the behaviour on Win XP 32bit and Mandriva 64bit KDE. I just confirmed that behaviour also exists on Mac, so multi-OS. Alex I recall this being a bug in a previous version of OOo, but which one... ? Alex Moving over to Kohei then. NOT reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.4.0RC1 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) English UI [OOO340m1 (Build:11)]". Fixed in between or do I not understand the problem? 1. I saved reporter's "Picture_without_extension" in a folder 2. created a new CALC document and saved in the same folder 3. opened WIN Explorer for folder with "Picture_without_extension" 4. copied "Picture_without_extension" using dragand drop from WIN explorer into CALC document Expected due to report: no picture shown actual: picture with fairy shown I modified Status to Assigned due to facts. @all: still reproducible for you with 3.4? Just used 'folder' picture to test 3.5.2.2 on Ubuntu using Nautilus 2.30.1 as the file explorer.
I was able to successfully drag-and-drop it to calc, writer, impress, & draw
Has this been fixed?

Created attachment 43921 [details] rename to Picture_without_extension drag and drop picture without extension inserts it as text. It creates Writer document with content of image. I have tryed it on Mandirva 64 bit Kde 4.4 and windows XP 32 bit In attachment is one random picture that should be renamed to Picture_without_extension to reproduce problem
