Financial customers insist on having financial cell formatting comparable to Excel.  This includes a left justified currency symbol with right justified numbers; single and double underlining in cells with no data, not as a cell border; and negative numbers encased within parenthesis instead of a leading minus symbol.  These are considered required standards for financial spreadsheet formatting in the USA.

This is common to all OS platforms and has been requested several times over the years for OpenOffice.

Yes, I know this one.  It's been requested several times from several different people.  I was just thinking about this yesterday.

I'll keep this for the time being.  I don't know when we can implemented this, but I know we need to implement this someday.

It has been a complete show-stopper for 3 deployments of OpenOffice that I have tried to implement.  We just couldn't come up with work-arounds that satisfied their accounting departments and other financial people.

I don't know what needs to be done in order to get more attention on this issue but it has been a real problem.

no, not done ( some promising proof of concept implementation has been done though ) unfortunately requires an odf format change, not sure when we will be able to do this ( depends on reaction of odf committee to our proposed changes to file format )

it's at least available for 4.0 ( can't recall if it made the later 3.6 builds, I don't think it did )
