I see the mirror on <http://download.documentfoundation.org/mirrors/all.html> I checked and the mirror, did not work at all for me. I left a comment on mirrors@documentfoundation.org I sent an e-mail to <webmaster@iitm.ac.in> and asked him to check the problem. Please feel free to reassign! @Ranjit Mathew: What download page do you use? (In reply to comment #1) > @Ranjit Mathew: > What download page do you use? I go to: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/ which gives me a download link: http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.3.1/rpm/x86/LibO_3.3.1_Linux_x86_install-rpm_en-US.tar.gz that automagically resolves to a URL on an appropriate mirror. This mirror invariably happens to be the one on IIT-M for me and thus very slow. :-( It was already set to serve "country only", but now I've even limited it to "AS only". Let's see if this helps. To get a selection of mirrors, appen ".mirrorlist" to the URL, e.g http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.3.1/rpm/x86/LibO_3.3.1_Linux_x86_install-rpm_en-US.tar.gz.mirrorlist But if there still are problems with the default, we'd rather like to fix those, instead of having users to select a mirror manually. I think the download page should at least have a "Problems with the download? Try an alternate mirror." link that takes to a page (or replaces the links in situ) with the URLs having a ".mirrorlist" suffix. > But if there still are problems with the default, we'd rather like to fix > those, instead of having users to select a mirror manually. That would be ideal, yes. However, we should at least let the users help themselves in case of a problem. In my case, I first searched for "libreoffice mirrors" (since there is no immediate link on the site for a list of mirrors) and that didn't help much either. So I searched for "openoffice mirrors" and navigated around on one of the listed servers to download the libreoffice package. BTW, thanks a lot for the prompt and positive resolution of this problem. I really appreciate it. Today in the evening both links to mirror from a.m. mirror list page worked, but performance really is poor, ftp-download only 40 ... 180 kilobytes/s with big fluctuation. I doubt that it will be useful to redirect to that mirror before we have had a feedback from webmaster. I will leave a comment concerning my contact to the webmaster as soon as I will have had an answer. @Infrastructure team: This mirror is on none of our listings, but it exists and worked for me for a single download test, but it is very slow (50kB/s) compared to tu-bs (200kB/s) Anything we still have to do / want to do or can we close this one? If you are referring to the ac.in mirror, it is set to "asOnly : True", that means it will not be shown in listings, except when you download from the respective netblock. Closing now, please reopen if issue reoccurs. |
