There is no checkmark in the menu if the hyperlink panel active unlike other panels. This maybe because only this panel has its own icon which takes place of the checkmark. When the panel is not active its icon is shown right to its entry in the menu. When it is active, nothing appears left to its name making impression that it is inactive (see the screenshot). On the screenshot the hyperlink panel is active but in the menu there is no checkmark unlike other panels. 

This is very confusing: it took me much time to figure out how to disable this panel first time because I disabled all panels which had checkmark right to them and still the hyperlink panel was active.

Confirmed for LibO 3.3.4 release 
[LibreOffice 3.3.4 · OOO330m19 (Build:401) · tag libreoffice-3.3.4.1]
(No further release 3.3.x planned).

The "Hyperlink" toolbar was removed with LibO 3.4 release.
