Description Jerome Fenal 2011-07-22 07:21:51 UTC
Currently DAYS360 only take into account 2 understanding of the third parameter (from the doc):
If Type = 0 or if the argument is missing, the US method (NASD, National Association of Securities Dealers) is used. If Type <> 0, the European method is used.

It would be greatly welcome to have the same meaning as in other financial functions:
Basis
Calculation
0 or missing : US method (NASD), 12 months of 30 days each
1 : Exact number of days in months, exact number of days in year
2 : Exact number of days in month, year has 360 days
3 : Exact number of days in month, year has 365 days
4 : European method, 12 months of 30 days each

If deemed not feasible for backward/cross compatiility reasons, introducing a new function DAYS365() with the new understandings.

I don't think that we can easily do this without breaking odf 1.2 compatibility:
http://docs.oasis-open.org/office/v1.2/cos01/OpenDocument-v1.2-cos01-part2.html#__RefHeading__1018184_715980110 mentions exactly how DAYS360 has to work and which functions need to be there.
Comment 2 Jerome Fenal 2011-08-18 23:29:00 UTC
Right.

Would introducing a new DAYS365 function be a major effort ?

Normally, all days calculations are already available in financial functions.
Comment 3 Markus Mohrhard 2011-08-19 04:37:58 UTC
there is still the problem that this would be problematic with the standard

I'm not quite sure if the standard allows to include not standard functions but even if it does it would result in problems when you open this file with another program or an older version of Libreoffice

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

Reopening because it looks like RFE
May be it is possible to create this functionality on Basic Macro

As the previous comment stated, this is a matter of internationally recognized standards which aren't easy to change. I am going to mark this as NOTABUG as it's not our bug but instead a matter of complying with standards.

For more information on standards and how they are created, please see this:
