Where there are 'new slide', 'delete slide' and 'rename slide' when right-clicking on a slide in the (mostly left-handed) slide overview, I am missing the option 'duplicate slide'. I can't seem to understand why this function is not available in the context menu.

This'll extremely boost the workflow! Thanks for enhancing and making LibreOffice the best office suite!

Hi Peter,

Wouldn't copying ad pasting do the trick? Because it seems to copy the layout style and text of the slide, which I think is all ou need to ask for when duplicating a slide. Do you want the duplicate slide functionality just to be able to have it there via right clicking? I am just curious on whether this would greatly improve compared to copying and pasting. Thanks.

Hi peter:

1. Ctrl + Drag&Drop a slide in the thumbnail list will do the trick :)

2. In Libreoffice 3.4.2.2, when you hover mouse in the slides thumbnail list, there is an extra floating tool box appearing on the slide (3 gray buttons on black background). The buttons on them, from left to right, function as: 'start slide show', 'hide slide', 'DUPLICATE SLIDE'

So please give more convincing evidence why we need this. Thanks.

Hi Jeffrey,

thanks for asking! Yes, for me it makes infact a difference whether I have to use the keyboard (copy/paste) or I can complete the task solely with the mouse. I find it much simpler and faster. From a UX perspective it's

one click (select the slide) plus two keyboard shortcuts involving two keys each (copy/paste)

vs.

just two clicks (right-click to invoke the context menu and one click to duplicate the slide).

If you need this function often, then the latter method is much faster. But I didn't know that the newer versions seem to have that functionality as Yifan wrote.

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Yifan,

thanks for pointing that out. I didn't expect things to evolve that fast. The newer version did the trick with the second solution you've provided. I like it even better than the context menu! Bug closed.

Regards,
Peter
