In Impress, you can not choose the Microsoft Office .ppt format as the default format to save in.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Impress
2. Click Tools --> Options
3. Under Load/Save, choose General
4. In the Default file format and ODF settings section, choose Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP (there are two of them, bug?) and click OK
5. Choose File --> Save As

Actual Results:

Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP (.pps) is listed in the Save as type

Expected Results:

Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP (.ppt) would be listed in the Save as type.

Comments:

Choosing either "Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP" from the Options menu has the same result (.pps being the default format) and if you go back into the Options menu, the first "Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP" is always selected, even if you previously chose the second one.

Failed to reproduce on LibreOffice 3.4 340m1(Build:103) for OpenSuse Linux.

Works fine for me, and works on Writer and Calc as well.

To answer your question on two same selections of 97/2000/XP, for me, one is the presentation template file, .pot, and the other one is the actual presentation file, .ppt.

I tried this on LibreOffice 3.3.2 (package version 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5) on Ubuntu 11.04 on a different machine and there are still two "Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP" entries and they both save them as a .ppt file.

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.

Hi Corey,

Works fine for me in 3.4.5rc1 3.5.0 beta on Linux
Could you pls try it once more in a recent version?
Thanks - Cor

I tried LibreOffice 3.4.4 and now there is only one option for Microsoft
PowerPoint 97/2000/XP and it does save it as a .ppt, since no one else has reported a similar problem in the first place and the issue seems resolved to me, I'm going to go ahead and mark this as resolved.
