NOT reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.4.4 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO340m1 (Build:402)]". I'm pretty sure it's a user error.
@Andrew:
please:
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem (and if possible how to created a
sample document from the scratch)
- add information
-- what EXACTLY is unexpected (Tooltip or Extended Tooltip?)
-- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
-- concerning your PC (video card, ...)
-- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
-- concerning your LibO version and localization (UI language)
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
('Tools -> Options -> LibO -> Gerneral -> Tips', ...'
-- Help pack installed?
-- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document
-- everything else crossing your mind

so you will see that in the window version it does not show the tools name. I have to use the "Whats this" tool in Help. @Andrew:
I know how "not Tooltip" looks. 1 answer for 10 questions is too rare. Let's continue with
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
('Tools -> Options -> LibO -> Gerneral -> Tips', ...'?
>Libo settings that might be related to your problems

it was the setting. why is this turned off by default. this should be turned on.
I deleted User Profile of "LibreOffice 3.4.4 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO340m1 (Build:402)]" and saw Tooltips checked and working. So I believe some particular circumstances caused Andrew's problems, I'm afraid it will be more or less impossible to reproduce the problem. @Andrew: Please feel free to reopen this bug if you find out that the problem still exists with the current stable LibreOffice version and if you find a way to prove (reproducible) that update destroys that setting or that a fresh new first installations starts with tooltips unchecked; indeed default should be "show tooltips". I additionally checked with Server installation of Master "LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) GERMAN UI [Build ID: 130028f-b211287-090bcba-45cf606-05891e7]" Win-x86@9-Voreppe - 111130) and a clean new user profile: Tooltips were active by default. |
