Example in spanish when the problem occur.

LibreOffice don't show the color grid when I choose "characther color",
"character background" and "color background" when the window isn't maximized.

The same thing for Calc and Writer for Windows XPSP3 32 bits, Win7 32/64, Linux Ubuntu 64 and 32 bits, all in spanish lang. 

Maybe is an old bug (or feature?), because OpenOffice have the same problem.

for font color and highlighting -- it is feature
for background color -- this is bug
reproducible in 3.3.4 and 3.6.0 master on Fedora 64 bit
change version to 3.3.4 as most early reproducible

Same issue here. Libreoffice doesn't show me the color dialog with the "background colour", "highlighting" and "font colour" selection box.

reproducible with LO 4.0.2.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit)

Note: You will have to shrink the window until these three options are no longer shown in the toolbar, so that you can only open them by clicking on the arrows on the right in the toolbar.
