Attachments: ugly script to provide icons from libreoffice3.4-redhat-menus RPM

Description Sean Carlos 2011-12-29 04:08:22 UTC
The customary rpm with Redhat/Fedora menu icons is missing. E.g 3.4 has this: libreoffice3.4-redhat-menus-3.4-501.noarch.rpm
Comment 1 Richie Smit 2012-02-09 13:21:29 UTC
In LibO 3.4 production release:

LibO_3.4.5rc2_Linux_x86-64_install-rpm_en-US/RPMS/desktop-integration/libreoffice3.4-redhat-menus-3.4-502.noarch.rpm

I expect there to be a similar package in LibO 3.5, e.g.:

LibO_3.5.0rc3_Linux_x86-64_install-rpm_en-US/RPMS/desktop-integration/libreoffice3.5-redhat-menus-3.5-13.noarch.rpm
Comment 2 popxunga 2012-02-14 07:58:01 UTC
Yes ... libreoffice3.5-redhat-menus-3.5-13.noarch.rpm file is missing in both LO 3.5 rpm packages (32 and 64 bit).
Is there a place from where we can get just the missing file ?
Thanks.

Created attachment 57124 [details]
ugly script to provide icons from libreoffice3.4-redhat-menus RPM

This script is a workaround to take an existing, installed libreoffice3.4-redhat-menus RPM and provide icons to LibreOffice 3.5, (almost but not quite) as if there was a package libreoffice3.5-redhat-menus installed.

This just does the pretty icon stuff -- nothing about mime types, etc. is handled. This just exposes the application icons to a Desktop user. The real fix is to have libreoffice3.4-redhat-menus repackages as libreoffice3.5-redhat-menus. I ain't got time to look for the source package and update it, or I'd do it.
Comment 4 Tim Evans 2012-03-07 05:03:31 UTC
The redhat-menus RPM is also missing in 3.5.1 RC1
Comment 5 Tim Evans 2012-03-07 05:11:31 UTC
The package Libreoffice3.5-freedesktop-menus seems to work fine for RHEL/CentOS
Comment 6 Richie Smit 2012-04-05 15:08:19 UTC
Further to Tim's point:

From the file readmes/README_en-US:

------
cd desktop-integration
[...]
For Fedora-based systems: su -c 'yum install *freedesktop*.rpm'
------

Evidently this has changed from being RedHat-specific to Free Desktop compatible. Good.

So: the bug is actually with the libreoffice3.5-freedesktop-menus-3.5-202.noarch package, which should list the redhat-menus package in obsoletes.
Comment 7 Richie Smit 2012-04-05 15:11:36 UTC
Changing Importance to low/minor. The issue here is that yum won't automagically substitute "libreoffice3.5-redhat-menus" for "libreoffice3.5-freedesktop-menus".
Comment 8 sasha.libreoffice 2012-05-03 06:06:21 UTC
in 3.5 version menu integration works correctly in Fedora 64 bit
(used rpm for install)
PS: Red Hat thinks that last stable version is 3.3.4. Exist reasons for this.

I am putting this bug as NEEDINFO as I haven't seen any update about newer releases having the same issue.

@Sean - if this is still a problem with a later release please reopen the bug and I'll get a person who runs a RPM based distro to take a look.

Thanks for your patience and understanding

I can confirm that the "freedesktop" desktop integration script works fine with recent versions of Fedora, e.g. 17, 18 and the gnome desktop.
