Description vcrite 2011-12-31 12:15:16 UTC
I have been using Libreoffice 3.4.4 without Java installed and had disable Java from within the settings after loading up Writer. Before installing Libreoffice 3.5.0 Beta 2, I uninstalled 3.4.4.

After installing Libreoffice 3.5.0 Beta 2, I opened Writer. While Writer loaded, multiple times, a dialog box showed up, mentioning about Java not being detected. After clicking the ok button each time (it is the only button in the dialogue box), writer appears to have closed; ie I couldn't get Writer to complete loading up.

I attempted loading Writer again, same result. I attempted re=installing, same result.

It was only after installing Java 6 and loading Writer that I could get into Java. I could then disable Java from within writer and uninstall Java 6, to get Libreoffice to run without Java.

Based on this, a few issues:
1) Writer should useable when loaded, at least until the Java dependent functionality is actually required.
2) Libreoffice 3.5.0 Beta 2 is not taking into consideration settings of a previous version.

Please, tell more information about used operating system

>Libreoffice 3.5.0 Beta 2 is not taking into consideration settings of a previous version
This was done intendedly for 2 versions or Libreoffice can exist independently (release and beta)

This is a Writer issue, therefore changed the 'Component' field accordingly.

Writer crashes WITHOUt any comment in Version 3.6.0.4 (Build ID: 932b512) Windows7.
All other components work well (Calc with a note, that there is no Java)

Can you back up your configuration folder and then delete your config folder so that LibO can get a fresh start? If that solves the problem, can you zip your backed up folder & attach the zip here so we can take a look at what's going on. Thanks for helping us out

I have done additional testing and cannot confirm this on several machines and several OS's. I am marking this as WORKSFORME.

Try the solution that I gave (backup user folder, start with clean LibO). If that fixes it go ahead and zip your user profile and attach it here. Then mark as UNCONFIRMED and I'll try to reproduce with your settings.

Thanks for helping out
