The file.

Problem description: Libreoffice crashes.

Steps to reproduce:
1. It seems to be specific to one particular file (an important one, of course.) The file is a `500 page book with footnotes and complex formatting, and uses Cardo.
2. Open it, do anything, even search for a word.
3. Program crashes, not immediately but within a minute or two.

Current behavior: Crash

Expected behavior: Not to crash

NOT reproducible with parallel Server installation of "LOdev 3.5.1rc0+ [Build ID: e80d2ea-73cb0b8-f269e46] Win-x86@6-fast pull time 2012-02-24 11:11:48 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit).

I opened file, did some arbitrary small edits (deleted words, added characters, searched for several strings, waited 15 minutes, again some edits ...) - no crash within 45 Minutes.

Might be related to extensions or User Profile?

@Phillip Ross
Can you please try with a parallel server-installation and independent new User Profile due to
<https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel> and report your results here?

Install Error capture

I changed to a different Windows user, and the file crashed just as before. So, I uninstalled LibreOffice, got a clean download and tried to reinstall it. When installing I got the attached error.

I changed to a different Windows user, and the file crashed just as before. I'll now try a clean install

Please advise.

I've been playing with this problem all day. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, deleted the user data, etc. Nothing works. But when I use LibreOffice and do NOT use that particular file, everything is fine. But as soon as I load and edit that file LibreOffice just quits.

I tried copying the text and pasting it (RFT) into another text file, and LibreOffice crashes. There must be something in that file that LiO doesn't like. It is possible that there is an odd character of some kind. How can I identify it?

I have other files that use Cardo with no problems. I opened the file in AbiWord and changed the font through the Style menu, and saved it. It still would crash when I opened it with LiO, so I downloaded OOo and it did not crash. So, I saved it and opened it with LiO, and it has not crashed. Upon further examination, I found that my many Bookmarks and Cross References are not missing. Maybe that was the problem.

I continue to work with this file. The problem may have been that I went from a 32-bit XP machine to a 64-bit Win 7 machine using the automated file transfer.

LiO Screen Capture of footnote problem.

The file LiO-3-5_Capture.jpg shows a problem. I've been rebuilding this document from an RTF save. The footnote you see does not show the last line of text, thought that line is there. I can copy and paste it elsewhere, and if I reduce the amount of text in the footnote the last line still does NOT show.

LiO Screen Capture of problem.

Here's a screen capture of the problem in the same file. It cuts of the last line of the page text (no footnote). Hope this helps.

SOLVED: When I got a new computer (XP 32-bit to Win 7 64-bit) a font was corrupted in the Windows auto file transfer. Reinstalled it and voila!
