I should have mentioned that the progress bar does not always show on save. It does sometimes. In this particular case, it didn't show the first time I saved after opening the document for editing, but did on subsequent saves - it shows as "exporting" - presumably because the document is in html format. Also, the subsequent saves (exports) were faster than the first save. Perhaps this has something to do with html (re)formatting... I can't reproduce with "LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID: 281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45f] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit), I see a progress bar. But function is not optimum, when I save a very big Writer document, I see 1 minute the "busy" mouse pointer progress bar area empty, and then for the last 2 seconds of saving the progress bar works. Steps how to reproduce: 1. open attached "x.odt" from WIN file explorer > Opens in WRITER 2. Menu 'File -> Save as -> "y.odt" <save> Expected: progress bar appears and grows continously Actual: I see 1 minute without bar, then 2 seconds 0% ... 100% Works much better for big complex DRAW documents, there the progress bar really grows during the whole time required for saving. @Wyndham Clampett Is that the problem you observe? Well, it's still a little bumpy with sample document "x.odt" but IMHO nothing what needs action. Closing Bug due to reporter's inactivity as WFM due to lacking information. @reporter: Please feel free to reopen this bug if you find out that the problem still exists with the current stable LibreOffice version and if you can contribute requested additional information due to <http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport> (especially BugReport Details)! |
Problem description: There is a progress bar on autosave, but not when saving manually. This would be really useful, especially on large documents.I'm currently working on one that is 6.23Mb in html format and there is no way to tell if the save has completed... LibreOffice is MUCH slower than MS Word when saving documents, so this is important. Steps to reproduce: 1. .... 2. .... 3. .... Current behavior: Expected behavior: Platform (if different from the browser): Please note my PC is quite powerful, with quadcore processor, 8Gb RAM and about 5Tb HDD - so performance should not be the issue.
