If one goes to:

Tools --> Options --> LibreOffice --> Appearance --> Application Background

The user is given a number of colors to choose from. I would love it if transparency were an option (no color at all). In this case, one would see the desktop wallpaper behind one's document. In effect, if one maximized Libre, one would be creating an environment like focus writer.

Just a thought.

On Windows 7 you can hover mouse pointer over Show Desktop in right low corner to see desktop wallpaper.

Hi bfoman, what you describe is something entirely different. What I'm suggesting is an option to see a transparent "Application Background". In other words, the document and toolbars (whichever) would still be visible (unlike with the Win7 transparency button). If the *application background* were transparent, I could maximize Libre Office and, as I wrote before, have (in effect) something like focus writer. (I use Linux, by the way.)

I don't see any reason not to confirm this and prioritize. I'm not sure how difficult this would be - I suspect pretty difficult though. Marking as:

NEW (Confirmed) + Enhancement + Lowest (difficulty + usefulness + how many people would ever use this feature)

LibreOffice is a cross-plattform application. While some code works on Windows, for example, it wont at other OS. Implementing such a function seems to be a huge effort with not much benefit for the users. Only a few would make the application transparent. => WF
