Please, could you explain exactly (step by step) how to reproduce the problem? You should attach a screenshot too. Best regards. JBF Just an idea:
I would think this is not a bug, but just the 'overwrite' mode instead of the normal 'insert' mode of typing. In 'overwrite' mode, Writer displays the cursor as a blinking block. You can switch between 'insert' and 'overwrite' mode just by pressing some key ('INS' or 'Einf' or ..., depending on your keyboard), so this could very well happen by accident. Could this be the answer to your problem?
