The effect is reproducible, but IMHO not a bug. Some Cells become hidden, but not eliminated, that's what I read in Help. That has never been different, I see the same behavior in OOo 1.1.4. @Brabantia helpdesk Why do you believe that the observed behavior is a bug? Pleas cite Help, Documentation, real life scenarios. I just find it weird that a value in a cell, which is invisible so unrecognizable, can mess up your calculations without letting you know. I checked Excel 2010 and tried the same thing there and it came with the following prompt: "The selection contains multiple data values. Merging into one cell will keep the upper-most data only." That's what i would expect it to be. @Brabantia helpdesk Please feel free to reopen this bug if you can contribute a complete concept for a different concept of handling for merged cells with indisputable benefit for many users. A simple "Excel does it different" is nothing what will cause any changes. Saying that it allways has been the same way will also not initiate any changes. I cannot seem to find the information in the Help that you state in comment 1. I'm looking here http://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Merge_Cells but i guess that's the wrong link. Can you privide me off the right URL? Thanks in advance. |
Created attachment 61447 [details] Just merge Cell A1 and B2 LibreOffice 3.5.0 RC3 Problem description: If you select two cells with both a value and merge them, both values are being remembered. Steps to reproduce: Put a value in cell A1 and A2. When doing a simple =SUM(A1:A2) you get a sum off both cells, as expected. But when you merge A1 and B1 using the "merge and center" button and select "no" when asked if you want to move the content of the hiddens cells to the first one, the sum of both cells is still the same. This while only one value is being showed. Expected behavior: Keep just one value in A1 and remove the value in B1 Browser: Chrome/18.0.1025.168 Safari/535.19
