Did you try to open the file with unzip or equivalent ?

About privacy, I'll respect it of course. Now don't forget that anybody can access this website... On pc Debian x86-64, with master updated today, I reproduced the problem. Noticed this on console : warn:legacy.osl:27764:1:/home/julien/compile-libreoffice/libo/sw/source/filter/ww8/ww8par.cxx:5505: WinWord 95/97 Reader-Read ohne Storage Now other questions : 1) can you open the file with Word viewer on Windows (it's free) ? 2) Can you open the file again from your Flashdisk drive with Macos Office 2011 ? 3) could you do the same thing but send the file from Mac to your pc by mail ? 4) can you try to create an xls file on Office 2011 for Mac and do the same thing (so this time with the flash drive) ? Perhaps it's possible to ask this to an admin but I don't know how it works. About the problem, i sent you in private a file which opens ok on Linux (with 3.5 branch updated yesterday). It must be a problem with Mac saving .doc files and the way libreoffice opens them Created attachment 61825 [details]
console logs with master
I noticed this with your file :
if you say no when LO asks you if you want to repair the file, it shows you another dialog box where there's only "OK" ("The file <filename> could not be repaired and therefore cannot be opened")
If you click "OK", it comes back to the first dialog box, etc.
If you do the same about less that ten times (I haven't counted), the file opens !
I've got the same behaviour with 3.5 and master, so I attached the console logs from master compiled sources.
Finally, I also tested with Windows, it opens without problem. I also made a last test : - remove the extension ".doc" of the file, Linux LO opens it ok (with the same console messages) Thanks a lot for all your input. Hopefully this problem gets fixed soon. If any more information is needed let me know. Forgot to update the status since no more information is needed for the moment. This bug is no more with LO 4.1.1 on Windows 7. The document is opened correctly, no corruption. Since there's no specific fix, I'll put WFM. |
Created attachment 61670 [details] First Error Problem description: When i create a .doc file with office 2011 for mac then save it to my flash drive, i try to open the file with libreoffice 3.5.3 and it says my file is corrupt. Steps to reproduce: 1. create a .doc file with office 2011 for mac 2. save to flash drive 3. try to open file with libreoffice 3.5.3 on windows 7 x64 Current behavior: libreoffice says my file is corrupt and asks if i want to repair it, i click yes, then it says read error. To fix the problem i had to upload the file to google docs, then download the file. I think when google converts the file it fixes it. Also the file did not have any special formatting or fonts. Expected behavior: Open the file normally Platform (if different from the browser): Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:12.0) Gecko/20120427 Firefox/12.0
