Whenever I type, it does not correct me, even if I just type up random letters. When I go to Tools -> Spelling and Grammar, it says that "The spellcheck is complete" even though there is obviously an error. It used to work for a while, now it does not work anymore at all. Even when I re-install it.

This one is a Duplicate of an other Bug report, but with the rare description I can't tell of what one.

I think in your document no (or a wrong) language is selected or the dictionary for the selected language is missing or you suffer from one of the other reported (especially after update).

Please feel free to reopen this Bug if discussion with others leaded to an assessment that we have a LibO bug and a clear and comprehensible description of the problem due to  <http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport>.
