Status: RESOLVED WORKSFORME
Severity: normal CC: jbfaure
Priority: medium

Description Rutschmann Dominik 2012-05-21 16:30:06 UTC
Problem description:
In many documents, especially in Impress, the program crashes after a time if I change the used fonts to another, like Adobe Garmond. After a crash and the restore of the document it often crashes immidately again. Sometimes it takes a little longer until it crashes again. The funny thing is, if it crashes once it starts to crash frequently, even if i don't do anything. LibO just begins to crash.

I had that problem in earlier versions too and I think the problem was never really gone.

I also tried to experiment a little with different Java Versions and automatic font changing but it made no difference.

Current behavior:
LibO crashes completely
Expected behavior:
To run stable

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/21.0.1144.0 Safari/537.1

Could you attach any example document for others to check it on different system/build?

Example of a document where crashes occur

This is a template I'm trying to create, what isn't easy because of the frequent crashes of LibO. Today it was the same problem. At first (I used 3.54 RC2) everything looked good and I hoped that the problem is now gone. Then i marked a text with STRG-A and *BAM* LobO crashed. And after the recovery process it crashed right again.

I really don't understand that type of error.

@Dominik Rutschmann: you should ask for help on users mailing list. You may have a configuration problem and you need to help to help you by providing as complete as possible information on your system which make it different from a basic one: profile stored on a network with R/W rights problem, non-admin installation, working on an usb device, corrupted profile, etc.

Side note: no problem for me with your file.

Best regards. JBF

Checked with:
LO 3.5.4.2
Build ID: own W7 debug build
Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit

No problems.

So, I now deleted my whole LibreOffice Profile and, yes, it works without any further crashes.

I think my problem or "bug" is now solved.

Sorry for the storm in the waterglass.

Some time ago the same problem appeared again, but now I found a workaround for it.

I disabled the font preview in the drop down list in LibreOffice and since that it just runs fine :).
