Description A (Andy) 2012-09-22 10:28:33 UTC
Problem description:
it is unfortunately not possible to remove individual lines in the User Defined cell borders area

Steps to reproduce:
1. open Spreadsheet
2. select a block of cells (several rows and columns)
3. choose Format - Cells
4. in the dialog, click the Borders tab and go to the Default Settings Area
5. click the fourth icon from the left to set all outer borders and all inner lines and then click OK
6. now select a smaller block of cells in this block of bordered cells
7. choose Format - Cells
8. in the dialog, click the Borders tab and go to the User Defined Area
9. choose any individual line to deselect this line and then click OK

Current behavior:
the deselected line will not be removed, all lines stay

Expected behavior:
the deselected line should be removed

NOT reproducible with Server Installation of "LibreOffice 3.6.2.1 rc English UI/ German Locale [Build-ID: ba822cc] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit). I did a quick test an was able to remove some lines I wanted without probelms. Here a more detailed instruction

1. open Spreadsheet
2. select a block of cells (several rows and columns) D6:H27
3. Menu 'Format -> Cells -> Borders'
4. in the dialog, click the Borders tab and go to the Default Settings Area
5. click the fourth icon from the left to set all outer borders and all inner
   lines and then click OK
   > All cells in selection get black borders
6. now select F10:G12
7. choose Format - Cells
8. in the dialog, click the Borders tab and go to the User Defined Area
9. choose the central vertical border 2 times so that it disappears, <ok>
   > As expected the vertical border has been removed
10. Select E15:E16
11. Menu 'Format -> Cells -> Borders'
13. click left vertical border line in "User-defined" area so that it
    disappears,  <ok>
    Unexpected: it seems no vertical border line has been deleted at left end
                of E15:E16?
14. Select D14:D17
15. Menu 'Format -> Cells -> Borders'
13. click RIGHT vertical border line in "User-defined" area so that it
    disappears, <ok>
    > Now you see that there is no vertical border between D15:D16 and
      E15:E16. In Step 13 the left borders have been correctly, but you still
      saw the right borders of the cells adjacent at the left. And now you
      still see the left borders of E14, E17

So NOTABUG. But I agree, this border management is really tricky.
