I think this is not a bug. If you want to select text then you will have to press the Shift Key. The Ctrl is used to go to the beginning of the word (together with Arrow Left) or to go to the start of the next word (together Arrow Right). Therefore, this behavior is correct. See also LO help: https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Shortcut_Keys_for_Writer Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a new document in WRITER 2. Go to the menu INSERT -> COMMENT 3. Write any text in the comment 4. Press the Shift Key and move the cursor with the arrows to select text Please inform if this answer does not resolve your issue. Thank you for this. I have traced the trouble to a desktop/system setting in the native Ubuntu/Unity system. In particular: 1. Open System Settings... / Mouse and Touchpad 2. Deselect checkbox labelled "Show position of pointer when Control key is pressed" The described problem no longer occurs in LibreOffice Writer. _don On Sun, Apr 14, 2013 at 5:27 AM, <bugzilla-daemon@freedesktop.org> wrote: > A <stgohi-lobugs@yahoo.de> changed bug 56239<https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56239> > What Removed Added CC stgohi-lobugs@yahoo.de > > *Comment # 1 <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56239#c1> on bug > 56239 <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56239> from A<stgohi-lobugs@yahoo.de> > * > > I think this is not a bug.
