Hi,
The style preview (very nice functionality :-) ) is inactive in the default new empty document until you inserted some text.

Steps to reproduce:
- launch LO 4.0 alpha
- from the starcenter, click on Writer icon to open an empty new document
- in the format toolbar click on the arrow of the dropdown paragraph list
=> you get the same list as in LO 3.6 instead of the preview
As soon as you have typed some text and applied a style like Heading 1,
the styles preview works again.

No problem with an existing document, the style preview works as expected as soon as you can navigate in the document.

Last tests done in Version 4.0.0.0.alpha1+ (Build ID: 8b568c1dd472021ebeb9d1536a8aab7e0b28607) but already found in (Version 4.0.0.0.alpha1+ (Build ID: 9bfa09273ea0b7c9a351802d105230930951b90))
