Description marv 2012-12-20 04:32:21 UTC
Problem description:
Spreadsheet construction:
I have a simple spreadsheet that I use to track the weekly value of a stock portfolio. Basically 52 rows (weeks) with columns for date, week number, balance, weekly return, YTD return, withdrawals, cumulative return and a graph of the week number and balance columns.

I enter raw numbers in the cell in the withdrawal column in the row for the week for any week during which a withdrawal is made. I insert a simple text comment in that cell giving the date and reason for the withdrawal. This column is sparse, with 13 cell entries for the 52 weeks of the year.

After a series of edits to the spreadsheet, every comment in the withdrawal column "disappeared".

Steps to reproduce (my best guess):
1. Working with sheet/tab for 2012 I right-clicked the tab to bring up the menu, selected move/copy and checked copy to create a copy for 2013 named 2013.

2. I tabbed into the 2013 sheet/tab and erased the column data copied over (balance, withdrawal) using a column highlight and pressing the delete key.

3. I saved and closed the spreadsheet.

4. Upon next opening the spreadsheet, the 2012 sheet/tab withdrawal column was missing all of the comments for all of the cells (13) with withdrawal numbers entered. The numeric data was still present -- only the comments were missing.

Current behavior: Seems normal.

Expected behavior: Cell comment data on tab named 2012 would not be deleted/erased when editing a tab named 2013, even though the 2013 tab was created by copying tab 2012.

Thanks for reporting!

Is it possible for you to test with a more recent version of LibreOffice (3.6.5) to determine this is still a problem?

If this is still reproducible, is it possible for you to share that document (because this is confidential (financial) information, I suggest to change the current values to some random values)?

Thanks in advance,
Joren

I am unable to recreate the bug using a copy of the spreadsheet. Suggest marking it unconfirmed/invalid.
