When having characters and numbers in cell values, sorting leaves out the first cell in a column.

That isn't a bug per se, it is caused by the options 'Field names in the first row' to be on by default.
Also, which version do you use? I cannot reproduce it with version 4.

I also cannot reproduce this problem with LO 4.0.3.3 on OS X.

@Gergő: Could you please re-try with the latest LO release and see if the problem persists. If that should be the case, please re-open and we'll further investigate.

Correct status is NotABug as explained in comment #2.

Was never confirmed -> regression keyword removed.
