Description mannunshesh mekenok 2013-03-05 16:40:38 UTC
Up until libreoffice when I loaded a file into writer, it would position the cursor at the position it was when the file was saved.

This seemed to stop at version 3.6.5.2-2 when the cursor now gets placed at he first line of the file.

I have upgraded to version 4.0.0.3 and still have the same problem, the cursor always goes to the top.

I have tried everything listed in:-

http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/1144/how-to-save-cursor-position-in-writer/

but to no avail. I have my name and surname specified in the settings and it always used to work, until I changed to version 3.6.5.2-2

I upgraded to version 4 to see if it is fixed, but sadly it is the same, the cursor, on file load goes to the top instead of where I left it.

Probably only user error, but may be an exotic unknown real problem?

@mannunshesh mekenok:
We can't help you here, information in your report is much too rare. Please consider that you should explain with a detailed step by step instruction how we can reproduce the bug, what is different to a simple description what you see.

Hints on <http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport> should help you. Not only to show how a bug report should be done I submitted "Bug 61870 - particular FORMCONTROLS disable focus on last caret position at FILESAVE" concerning a similar (or may be your?) problem.

It would be great if you could try to reproduce my results there and add some of the missing info (see end of the report).
After it please do a new approach here with a careful, detailed instruction how we can reproduce your problem.

20 minutes invested in a good bug report can save months of pain ;-)

Closing Bug due to reporter's inactivity as INVALID due to lacking information.

@reporter:
Please feel free to reopen this bug if you find out that the problem still exists with the current stable LibreOffice version and if you can contribute requested additional information due to <http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport> (especially BugReport Details)!
