Description DevGuy 2013-03-18 17:54:44 UTC
Problem description:

Sorry for not providing a version, but this happens in all LO versions I've ever used and was half the reason for going back to OOO.

The problem is that when you create a writer template and embed an image (in my case our companys letterhead and logo) and choose "As Link" it displays properly.

Edit > Links...
displays the link absolute (in my case: file:///C:/Users/Angie/Documents/transp/corp.png )

But when I create a new document ( File > New > Templates and Documents ) the "New Document" only has an error in place of the image and Edit > Links... shows a very strange Link:
file:///C:/Users/Angie/AppData/Roaming/LibreOffice/3/Angie/Documents/transp/corp.png

Steps to reproduce: see above

Current behavior: no images in documents

Expected behavior: images!

________________
Possibly related: I can "save as" a document with a working linked image as ODF Text Document Template (ODT) and create working "New Document"s from it, but when I open the Template for editing it does not have an image.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: unspecified

I am unable to reproduce / confirm this bug so it may be a Windows build / platform issue or even a user profile issue from the look of the link location. Here are the basic steps I took to try and reproduce this problem under Crunchbang 11 x86_64 running v4.1.3.2 Build ID: 70feb7d99726f064edab4605a8ab840c50ec57a:

1. Download TDF logo http://ask.libreoffice.org/m/tdf/media/images/tdf-logo.png
2. New Writer document.
3. Insert > Picture > From File... > select graphic > check Insert as Link > click Open.
4. Enter some filler text.
5. File > Save as Template... > click Save > enter file name > click OK.
6. Exit Template Manager and running Writer instance (no need to save).
7. Open Start Centre > Templates... > select template > click Open.
8. New document displays with graphic.
9. Right-click graphic > Picture... > Picture tab > Link section > File name shown should be link location.

Even after editing and saving the document the graphic continues to display as expected. The same template created in v4.1.3.2 can be opened using these versions (all running under the same OS) without issue:

- v3.5.7.2 Build ID: 3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b
- v3.6.7.2 Build ID: e183d5b
- v4.0.6.2 Build ID: 2e2573268451a50806fcd60ae2d9fe01dd0ce24

Thank you for responding to this report.

Sadly I do not use any version of Windows myself.
The computer with the orginal problem is at my parents company, and it'll be at least another three weeks until I am back there.

They're reporting problems with openoffice4 (it starts up quick, but takes ages to open saved documents) anyway, so I'll take them the latest LO and test again.

Thank you for creating something great.

I spent the weekend with extensive tests, and in cannot reproduce the behavior in libreoffice 4.1.3 in windows8.1 .

I can still reproduce it in apache openoffice 4.0.1, also in windows8 and windows8.1 (I upgraded the system over the weekend).

I hope that setting the issue to resolved will close it.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I really believed it also happend in LO.
