Comment 1 tommy27 2013-07-18 22:46:36 UTC
do you still experience this issue with LibO 4.0.4?
Comment 2 wendy 2013-07-19 12:34:10 UTC
I've upgraded LibreOffice to 4.04 and upgraded the Kodak Hero 5.1 printer driver, problem persists.
Comment 3 tommy27 2013-07-19 13:03:52 UTC
mmmhhh... did you ever printed documents with previous LibO versions on that printer?
Comment 4 wendy 2013-07-19 13:12:16 UTC
Yes, I have printed to that printer from previous versions of Libreoffice
Comment 5 tommy27 2013-07-19 16:56:41 UTC
try downloading the portable version of LibO 4.0.4 from this link:
http://www.winpenpack.com/main/download.php?view.1354

then try to print a document from it using your printer.

if the portable version works it means that there's something corrupted in your user profile
Comment 6 retired 2013-07-21 12:13:31 UTC
Also you might want to test with the latest LO pre-release: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ How does LO 4.1.0.3 behave?

Do I understand correctly that you can print form other software? Could you send a screenshot of that you are seeing after you hit "print"?
Comment 7 wendy 2013-07-22 14:02:07 UTC
Hi
Yes, I can print from other software such as LR5, web pages, notepad, etc. Difficult to send you a screen show of what happens when I try to print from LO as the job goes in and out of the print queue so fast that I can't grab the screen show.
I'll try the pre release version of LO and let you know what happens.
Cheers
Wendy

In reply to the comment about trying with a portable version of LO, I've tried that and same result - document goes in and out of the print queue in a flash but never makes it to the printer.
Comment 9 wendy 2013-07-23 09:22:31 UTC
Tried LO pre-release, same result, in and out of print queue but nothing at printer
Comment 10 wendy 2013-07-23 09:27:17 UTC
Just a thought, if I export the document as a pdf I can then print the pdf.
Comment 11 tommy27 2013-07-23 09:59:04 UTC
have you tried changing the printer? does it still refuse printing?
Comment 12 wendy 2013-07-24 14:13:16 UTC
N, I haven't tried changing the printer, it's the only one I have
Comment 13 ign_christian 2013-07-24 15:05:53 UTC
Hi Wendy, perhaps you could print to PDF from LO? (using PDF printer, not Export to PDF)
Comment 14 tommy27 2013-07-24 15:14:09 UTC
I suspect that there's something wrong with her printer (Wendy are you a girl right?), maybe corrupted drivers... Nobody here has ever experienced such printing troubles with any LibO versions.
Comment 15 wendy 2013-07-24 15:15:10 UTC
Yes, I can do that by printing to the 3rd party software Nitro reader 3.5.2.10
Is that what you meant?

> Yes, I have printed to that printer from previous versions of Libreoffice

do you remember which one was the last working LibO version?

If yes, download the corresponding portable version from this page:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/winpenpack/files/X-LibreOffice/releases/

then try printing and tell us if the issue is still there
Comment 17 wendy 2013-07-24 15:21:03 UTC
I can't remember which version of LO allowed me to print but I'll uninstall it and try a few versions back and report.
Comment 18 ign_christian 2013-07-24 15:41:43 UTC
Seems like LO can't communicate with the printer driver. Perhaps you could also try reverting to some old printer driver.

I've just saw that Win7 also not having built-in Kodak printer driver, so it really depends on driver provided by manufacturer (Kodak).
Comment 19 wendy 2013-07-25 11:03:21 UTC
I've just installed Open Office and get the same problem with it. Does this help or not?
Comment 20 tommy27 2013-07-25 11:56:27 UTC
it reinforces the idea that there's something wrong with your printer.

try this: open a simple .txt file in LibO and print it...
I want to understand that the printing failure is format specific or application specific.
Comment 21 wendy 2013-07-25 12:09:07 UTC
Response to Tommy27 that I attempt to print a simple text file: opened a readme.txt file and sent it to the printer, result: in/out of the printer queue without bothering the printer.
Comment 22 tommy27 2013-07-25 12:16:35 UTC
so it did not print anything neither...

at this point the last tests you can do are:

1- ask a friend to borrow you a different printer and see what happens
2- bring you PC (I hope it's a laptop or a light desktop) to a friend's home and thy using his/her printer and see what happens
3- ask a friend with a laptop to visit you and try printing something on LibO using your Kodak printer and see what happens

Will do and report back, thanks for all your help Tommy27 and others.
Comment 24 tommy27 2013-09-23 18:29:06 UTC
any news Wendy, did you finally print anything with LibO?
Comment 25 wendy 2013-09-24 10:11:34 UTC
Hi Tommy
Sorry I haven't got back to the post. No I have had no further luck with printing. I've become so accustomed to it that I now automatically export as a pdf and then print that. Problem seems so weird but there we are.
I didn't manage to borrow a printer.
Thanks for all your help and suggestions.
Wendy
