Please clarify what you are asking. What do you mean "script formats" you mean just italicized, bold, etc...? All of these have icons...

A screenshot might help

Marking as NEEDINFO - a screenshot and further explanation is needed.

Please provide the info and screenshot and then mark bug as UNCONFIRMED and we will investigate.

Thanks for helping us!

I goofed!

M\it was my first use of the Libre Office Writer program; I was familiar with MS Word, with icons for font size, boldface etc. in the tool bar. I foolishly assumed they would be visible likewise in Libre Office Writer, but later determined that by clicking on word they were in a sub-menu. Kindly accept my most humble apologies for causing this wasted effort, Thanx, n.

Is there a tutorial for new users?

Is there a tutorial for first time users of Libre Writer?

Also, what is a "Tag"? Is it marked as such? Where do I find it?
Comment 7 Nick 2013-05-01 04:24:56 UTC
Also, where do I insert the info? Sorry for all the comments, I'm having difficulty navigating this form.

no worries :)

This might help: http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/

I closed the bug as INVALID so don't worry about that, as for tag, not sure what you're referencing :)

You can join the user mailing list (great people over there), join #libreoffice on freenode (IRC) or ask any question on our ask libreoffice site.

You'll find lots of help on all of those

Pardon my ineptitude; I'm having problems navigating the form. What is a "Tag"? Where is it located? Where do insert the info? Thanx for your patience. n.

Apologies for the stupidity. In transitioning from 'MS Word' to 'Office Writer', that being my first 'Office Writer' word processing document, I went looking for the usual suspects in the tool bar, where the customary 'font', 'font size' and 'boldface' reside (in the 'MS Word' program that is). Later, I located them in a sub-menu while exploring my new playground, much to my chagrin; mucho embarrassment, as I had already sent my fool question.

Further Clarification: When I started using an Apple 8 word processor, many moons ago, and later, a Windows machine, I was able to purchase books and a "For Dummies" booklet (no classes in those days), which aided in using word processors. Hearing that 'Office Writer' was a good replacement for greedy MS, I took the plunge. Since there are no tutorials for 'Office Writer', and since there where only a few pleasant but subtle changes, I assumed that since similarities existed, everything would be intuitive. Not so; had I spent time exploring before I shot off my big mouth, I wouldn't be apologizing now.

But all was not lost, I did meet a nice guy by the name of Joel. Again, thanx Joel for your kindness and patience, n.

P.S. Did you ever figure out what "Tag" was? Filling out that form was akin to jumping through hoops, as when filling out a rebate form for a company that didn't want to part with the moo-la. Us old fart engineers lived or died by the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) Principal.
Designing specialized test equipment, and then writing test procedures for the average technician to follow, makes us cringe at some of the techno-greek some engineers spout today. I say, bring back the computer punch cards! (A sick joke). Again, thanx for your patience and sparing me that god-awful form. If I was that proficient in computereese, I wouldn't be requesting clarification; the freeware needs a forum for newbies. 'Bye.
