I'm using LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 with debian stable (wheezy) and kde 4.8.4. When I try to save a new file with libreoffice writer, the save dialog doesn't include a "create new folder" option. 

The "create new folder" option does appear if I check "use libreoffice dialogs" in
Options-LibreOffice-General. So this appears to be a bug with libreoffice-kde.

I filed a nearly identical bug two years ago with LibreOffice 3.3.1 in debian sid, so it looks like the bug has either resurfaced or was never resolved. Here's a link to the old bug report:

On Manjaro KDE, I have the folder creation button and I don't have "Use LibreOffice dialogs" checked. Closing as WFM.
