Description Glenn N Davis 2013-05-17 04:21:28 UTC
I brought in a .csv file in and saved it. The data column a currency say $1.00. First, I deleted the $. Next I used format cell and turned it to number format. Instead of becoming a number a ' showed up and the cell remain text. Example
$1.00 became '1.00. The only way I've found to change the text to number format is to go in and hand edit every incidence 'xxx which is very time consuming. If I leave the $ and use format cell and choose currency the cell goes from $1.00 to '$1.00. The text symbol does not seem to be searchable for find and replace.

Hi Glenn,

change the cell format never change the content (I hope).

After verify there is not a Text cell format @, you can use Menu/Data/Text to column to change from text values to numeric values, or with find and replace search for: '(.*) replace with: $1 with regular expressions enable.

But it is not a bug, changed the status to RESOLVED NOTABUG, please if you are not agree, REOPEN.
