The bibliography is currently very limited and doesn't invites users to manage their literature references with LO. On the other hand there are a lot of tools (JabRef, Mandeley, ...) that do a great job with managing references but don't have a native access to the biblography and thus don't make use of LO native bibliography. This results in establishing workarounds to realize summaries, TOCs and crosslinks.

Please improve the native frontend with functionality to import/reference 3rd party bibliography tools as bibtex.

Agree with the requirement. There is BibTex that should be supported, but first of all the more widespread CSL, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citation_Style_Language

Imagine this as an advanced function at the database dialog.
