Typical documentation issue... What for is The "square icon immediately to the right of the Target field" ? - intuitivly, to open the target URL (may be to check its value) - missed ! the Online Help says : to "Open a Web browser in which you can load the desired URL. You can then copy and paste the URL in the Target field.". So you are supposed to use firstly the button, secondly the target field, and not the opposite. It works on my system... However, I agree that getting a error message when "opening a (empty) web browser" is not fair. LibO 4.0.5.2 on Win7. What Domunique says. And honestly I don't get what that button is supposed to do. Should it grad an URL from a browser? MouseOver says "Open Web browser, copy an URL, and paste it to target field" aha. What does that mean? And If I am supposed to do that, why is there this button? This needs some cleanup > NEW Confirmed:4.2.0.1:OSX ** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (4.4.2 or later) https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo"; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa Thank you for your help! -- The LibreOffice QA Team This NEW Message was generated on: 2015-05-02 Created attachment 115294 [details]

Bug still there in 4.4.2.0.0+ (v=4.4) IMO the expected behavior for clicking the icon is to open a browser to display whatever is in the Target field. Anything else seems pointless or unnecessarily cumbersome. P.S. I updated the test.odt file to change the instructions slightly (in 4.4 you don't select the URL first to enable Rightclick->Edit Hyperlink, but just put the mouse anywhere in the URL. Also, there is a difference from LO3.3.0 when you click the icon: LO3.3 opens a web browser displaying file:///opt/libreoffice_3.3.0.4/basis3.3/share/template/en-US/internal/url_transfer.htm (on my system), which has a message explaining how to *create* a hyperlink. So maybe this square icon was intended to be some kind of "help" function ?? LO4.4 just opens "http://" when you click the icon; there is no file named"url_transfer.htm" in the 4.4 distribution, so maybe there's a packaging glitch and the "http://" is some kind of fall-back behavior (if so, it would be more helpful to show a message listing the missing file name and/or where to find it online). Following https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98885, this bug is now obsolete. |
Created attachment 80372 [details] Demo containing a hyperlink and instructions for seeing the bug. If a hyperlink is edited with rightclick->Edit Hyperlink, then clicking on the icon to the right of the Target (URL) field opens a browser window which always gets a "file not found" error. The URL given to the browser is always "http://" Steps to reproduce: Open the attached demo document and examine the hyperlink it contains (instructions are in the document). Operating System: Ubuntu Version: 4.0.3.3 release
