When presenting with the smartphone, one doesn't hold the smartphone always in the same orientation. That's why it makes sense to offer a button that locks the orientation of the software horizontally or vertically. Otherwise one has to wait for few seconds until the software reajusted when lifting the hand to check for the speaker notes.

This feature is available on system level at “Settings → Accessibility → Auto-rotate screen”. Android as a platform is not really intended to use orientation locks, working at all orientations and configurations is more welcome. I’m marking this as wontfix, feel free to reopen if you have other arguments, but check out new version on Google Play first ;-)
