i am writing an electronics engineering text book and have reached 28 Mbytes size. there are around 60000 words and lots of formulae. now when i try to add one more formula libreoffice crashes destroying my file too. after that libreoffice stops functioning at all. it does not even give the splash screen. i reinstalled libreoffice and took a backed up file of a day earlier. i started typing again.everything worked fine till i reached the same place and again it crashed exactly the same way.

Any chance of getting a backtrace of the crash ? (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport)

No test file, no backtrace. Nothing that could be fixed then.

If you are able to provide more info, please re-open. Closing, since currently there is nothing, that could be done to fix this.
